Excellent product, 5 star across the boards. The noise is negligible, its cheap, its huge in capacity, compact in size, its easy to use and installs in seconds, it ways very little, less than most of the competing brand names! This is good not only for being more convenient, it ways far less than the 3 pound threshold for shipping and packing, so what you may save on the price tag of most other brands you'll end up paying on shipping.

Not only this, I had a great service provided by Amazon. I'm tight on cash (like almost everybody) so to save some pennies I asked for a free shipping service (that usually takes between 5 and 8 days); I was surprised by a notice I received the same day I ordered Iomega, informing me that it had already been shipped. Next day before I left for work I received it at my doorstep! Next day shipping for Free!

I'm very happy with the product and the service! -- Simply great

I decided to buy the 1TB version when I started running out of room for storing virtual machine files on my 6+ year old desktop(which still works reasonably well). This external hd has more than enough space for me to store my VMware virtual machine files. Transfers are reasonably fast for a usb connection.

I did one time receive a delayed write error while downloading vmware package for a linux os, although it may have been as issue with my page file as I have write caching turned on. I did wish that it also offered an eSATA connection but I won't hold it against the product as it is already a great bargain. -- Excellent Product

I had purchased a smaller drive several years ago and was ready for a larger unit. I had also purchased a 1.0TB drive for my son.
